612im: How we capture documentary stories and incorporate the brand

We use a small, nimble documentary team to capture personal stories in a way that typical approaches cannot. By moving quickly and blending in, we attempt to establish a level of comfort that produces extremely powerful, real content.

Our team uses high-quality, small-format camera equipment that can be hand-held and thrown in a backpack. We use EX-1 cameras because their half-inch imagers perform well in available light and in unpredictable situations. We use a small package of Sennheiser lav and on-camera microphones that highlight sibilants and are generally optimized for capturing speech. We use the Canon 7D for time-lapse, cinematic focus control and shooting stills to incorporated into the final edit. The end product is a 1080p24 HD deliverable that will look beautiful on the web.

We try and focus on people, not technology. By paying a lot of attention to this, we have been able to bring stories with subtlety, power, and realism to an audience that is quick to reject anything that seems "fake".

612im produces, directs, edits, provides motion graphics, records sound, sources and secures rights to original music with independent musicians. The all around approach allows to take a client from concept to web in one smooth process and dramatically improve the speed of delivery.
